Book one project- promoting the Hunger Games books

My first idea to better promote the book Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins would be to create a Hunger Games theme park located in Cincinnati OH (because none of the cool theme parks are ever built in Cincy). The park would be set up like Disney Land or Disney World where there are the different country’s you could visit or experience, though here you would be able to visit all the different districts included in the book straight from the capital to the secret district 13 that you would have to have the special password to access. Also, included at the park would be the interactive Hunger Games game, where you would be transported straight into the games and given a chance to experience what Katniss and Peeta had to go through. The idea behind this is that many people would want to experience what happens in the books and be able to live it for themselves so why not just build a theme park for it? This idea would successfully target every person who enjoys the book, and I also believe it would target people who haven’t read the books yet but would be interested to. Therefore, by visiting the park, the people would be convinced to go buy the book so they could read it for themselves. The park would be set up like the Harry Potter word shown here on this map, though would obviously be a whole park dedicated to the Hunger Games books.

District Twelve. Where you can starve to death in safety. Katniss Everdeen

In the book, Katniss is given a mocking jay pin before she is sent out to her first Hunger Games and the second idea of mine to promote the book would be to take this symbol and make different types of jewelry out of it. Necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, every type of jewelry would be made including this symbol. Not only would this people but this because of it being in the book, but also random people would see it in a store and it would be so pretty they would just want to buy it, even though they’ve never read the book. And by reaching out to these people, the book would get a larger audience. I believe the target for this would be mostly teenage girls who like the books though it’s possible that it could interest many other people
They let you wear one thing from your district in the arena. One thing to remind you of home. Will you wear this? Madge Undersee

In order to better promote this book to younger children I have designed the Hunger Games Survival Kit Pack for kids. This kit would be used when smaller kids are playing and would like to pretend they are in the Hunger Games. In the kit there would be the essential items needed to survive in the games. Included in this would be a small amount of food and water, different simple types of medications and basic first aid items along with a weapon to use in defending yourself and a shield. Using these items would ensure your survival in the Hunger Games, real or fake. By targeting the younger audience, word about the book would spread faster therefore getting more readers and making the book more popular.
“Here’s some advice. Stay alive.”
 -Haymitch Abernathy
This quote goes along with my Survival Kit idea because Katniss was given the advice to stay alive and had she had this wonderful survival guide, her survival would have been much easier and less deadly to her.

  1. Fun ideas. The jewelry/accessories is interesting; I had no idea there was Twilight stuff like in the pictures. The survival kit is also a creative approach. I like the secret password to enter district 13 idea.

  2. The surival kit for kids a really cute idea. It would get kids interested in the book at an earlish age. Plus I am sure fans would buy it too.
