Why do YOU read?

I’ve grown up being surrounded by books; my whole life (thus far) has been filled with them. I can remember at a young age being at a much higher reading level than majority of my peers, I was in the “cool, elite” group that got to read black level books (the level at the school library that was the highest. Reading has always been something that I have loved and enjoyed. One main reason I believe I love to read it because I imagine books like movie scripts. As I’m reading, the movie is playing in my head and I have the ability to imagine all the details given to through the text and to add small details of my own to the story, to put my own spin on it.  The idea that with reading I can go, be, and do whatever I want has always attracted me to more books. I have the ability to go from being in the Hunger Games to being thrust into upper Manhattan at a prep school, the possibilities are endless.  I can spend an afternoon sitting on my window seat getting pulled into and twisted into a new life, with a new character with a new plot. Another reason I read is to get inspiration for other things and pieces I could be writing myself. As I read I can take small details from many different story’s and combine them together, give it a new twist and BAM! You’ve got yourself a best seller of your own J

  1. I like your point about visualizing what you're reading like a film. I think that's what the best readers do. And reading a lot is what the best writers do.
